Dr. Jillian Squires has been working as a chiropractor since 2009, practicing for 3 years in Portugal at the beginning of her career and then spending the following 13 years as the owner/operator of a very busy clinic in northern BC.
With an honours degree Kinesiology, she then graduated with clinical honours from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and has extensive experience treating patients of all ages, utilizing techniques such as diversified chiropractic adjustments, joint mobilizations and spinal rehabilitation. Dr. Squires is trained in Active Release Technique (A.R.T), which is a specific muscle release therapy that is extremely effective in treating a wide range of muscular injuries and conditions from shoulder injuries to tension headaches.
With three children of her own, over the years she has developed a strong interest in paediatric and female centred care, specifically pre and post natal care, infant care, breastfeeding support and pelvic floor rehabilitation. She is a certified MUTU pro, teaching mothers rehabilitation techniques to help them recover from the physical tolls of pregnancy and delivery, which include pelvic floor dysfunction and prolapse, diastasis (separation of abdominal muscles) and lower back pain.
Dr. Squires is also in the process of becoming a international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC), after observing how the combination of chiropractic care plus lactation support often get the mother-baby diad off to their best start in the breastfeeding journey.
In her spare time she leads a very active lifestyle outdoors, biking, running or hiking in the summer, and enjoying nordic and downhill skiing in the winter.
